Yesterday, H. E. Dr. Hajo Sani, OON, met with two remarkable Nigerians working at UNESCO: Ms. Ugo-Nlemadim Olive, a Protocol Assistant, and Ms. Animashawun Tosin, a Programme Specialist - PAX.

H. E. Dr. Hajo Sani, OON, joined other African Ambassadors yesterday to welcome the President of Ghana, H. E. Mr. Nana Akufo-Addo, at UNESCO.

His Excellency was at UNESCO to attend the tribute to Mr. Amadou Mahtar M’Bow, the former Director-General of UNESCO, who served from 1974 to 1987. Mr. M’Bow, a trailblazer from Senegal, was the first African to lead the organization. His tenure was marked by significant advocacy for cultural diversity, international cooperation, and the promotion of equitable access to education worldwide. He championed the New World Information and Communication Order (NWICO), aiming to address global disparities in media and communication.

The event served as a moment of reflection on his enduring legacy and commitment to UNESCO’s ideals of peace, development, and global solidarity.
