The 42nd General Conference of UNESCO which commenced on 7th November, 2023, ends today, 22nd November, 2023. The General Conference is the highest constitutional Organ of the Organization and consists of the representatives of UNESCO’s Member States. “It meets every two years, and is attended by Member States and Associate Members, together with observers for non-Member States, intergovernmental organizations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). The General Conference determines the policies and the main lines of work of the Organization. Its duty is to set the programmes and the budget of UNESCO”
At this year’s session Nigeria was represented by several Delegates including: the Honourable Minister of Education, Nigeria – Prof. Tahir Mamman, SAN, OON, Honourable Minister of Information and National Orientation – Alhaji Mohammed Idris Malagi, Minister of State for Education – Dr. Yusuf Sununu, Ambassador of Nigeria to UNESCO – H.E. Dr. Hajo Sani, OON, Honourable Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy – Barrister Hannatu Musa, Honourable Minister of Youth Development – Dr. Jamila Bio Ibrahim, Senator Muntari Dandutse, Chairman – Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TetFundand, RT. Hon. Mark Bako Useni – Member of the Federal House of Representatives, and several other dignitaries.
