Yesterday, 13th June, 2022, Nigeria got re-elected as Chair of UNESCO’s International Co-ordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere (MAB-ICC) Programme.
The International Co-ordinating Council of the Man and the Biosphere (MAB) Programme is the MAB governing body which consists of 34 Member States elected by UNESCO’s biennial General Conference.
The new Council members are:
Nigeria – Group V(a) | Chair
Ukraine – Group II (Rapporteur)
Portugal – Group I
El Salvador – III
Korea – Group IV
Morocco – Group 5(b)
Nigeria is represented on the Council by Prof. Olusola Adepoju, DG, Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria (FRIN).
