This afternoon, 18th December, 2025, the Ambassador of Nigeria to UNESCO, H. E. Dr. Hajo Sani, OON, led the Honourable Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’idu Ahmad, alongside the Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Mrs. Aisha M. Garba, to a bilateral meeting with the Assistant Director-General for Education, Ms. Stefania Giannini, at UNESCO Headquarters.
The meeting provided a platform for in-depth discussions on enhancing cooperation between Nigeria and UNESCO in the education sector, particularly in the area of basic education. Exchanges focused on policy priorities, ongoing reforms, and opportunities for strengthened technical collaboration to advance inclusive, equitable, and quality education in Nigeria.
The engagement underscored Nigeria’s continued commitment to working closely with UNESCO to support national education objectives and contribute to the achievement of global education agendas.
Also present at the meeting were Dr. Oladele Aderemi, Delegation Advisor, and members of the UNESCO Assistant Director-General’s team.
