The 2023 Annual Retreat of the Permanent Delegation of Nigeria to UNESCO was held from 1 – 6 May, 2023 at Domaine de Vaugouard, Fontenay Sur Loing, France, with an aim of creating a space for a more informal exchange in order to encourage creativity, knowledge sharing among colleagues, brainstorming, foster better understanding among staff having spent time socializing and engaging in team-building exercises outside the usual work environment and coming up with a roadmap for the year.
The retreat had several training sessions, presentations, discussions on the various programme sectors and performance evaluations.
On the last day of the retreat, members of staff went on a cultural visit to the Fontainebleau Castle – the most richly furnished royal castle in Europe. The castle was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981, served as residence for the French Monarchs from Louis VII to Napoleon III i.e 34 kings and 2 Emperors.
