Nigeria Hosts UNESCO’s 11th Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2022

The Global Media and Information Literacy Week is an annual event organize by UNESCO to “enhance the capacities of policymakers, educators, information and media professionals, youth organizations, and disadvantaged populations in this area, assisting Member States to formulate national media and information literacy policies and strategies.”

This year’s Global Media and Information Literacy Week is being hosted by Nigeria with the theme “Nurturing Trust: A Media and Information Literacy Imperative.” The event is schedule to hold from 24th to 31st October, 2022.

Present at the event are: Prof. Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, Chief of Staff to the President who also representing Mr. President, Minister of Information and Culture – Alhaji Lai Mohammed, UNESCO Assistant Director General, Communication and Information, Mr. Tawfik Jelassi, Minister of State for Education, Mr. Goodluck Opiah, Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Hon. Isa Pantami, Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Cui Jian Chun, Director of the UNESCO Multisectoral Regional Office for West Africa (Sahel) and Representative to Burkina Faso, Cabo Verde, Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger and Senegal, Mr. Dimitri Sanga and several other important personalities and stakeholders.

Her Excellency, Dr. Hajo Sani, Ambassador, Permanent Delegate of Nigeria to UNESCO is currently at the event in company of the Delegation Advisor, Dr. Aderemi Oladele.
